Hints for Understanding the Differences Between Electric Guitar Strings
Whether you are an avid electric guitar musician or a beginner, chances are you have had to learn about electric guitar strings pretty quickly. Since guitars are a stringed instrument, it is obvious that the strings make a huge difference in the sound and functionality of your instrument.

Alloy Electric Guitar Strings –
By far the most popular type of electric guitar strings are alloy. Alloy electric guitar strings come in Stainless Steel, nickel-plated and pure nickel. The most popular of the three are the stainless steel guitar strings. They are great for producing perfect tone and high volumes. Since they are anti-corrosive they are perfect for both electric guitars and bass guitars. They also have a pretty long life expectancy because they are sturdy, but this can make them harder on the fingertips and more difficult to play as well. The nickel planted alloy strings are great for eliminating finger noise and are an awesome choice for beginners. For those that do not play the electric guitar and choose an acoustic guitar, they would be better off choosing pure nickel strings which produce an alternate sound than the other types of guitar strings.
Guitar String Winding
Each set of guitar strings is sold with a different label of winding. Standardly, strings are round wound, which essentially means that a round wire is wrapped around the core. These strings are very common, and are great for creating great volume and tone, but can be more difficult for beginner electric guitar players to strum. If you enjoy playing fast or jazzy music, you should definitely choose an alternate form of winding. Ribbon or flat wound strings produce very soft strings when played. These are not a great choice for players that are into rock music because sound quality can be compromised.
Ground Wound and Nylon Taped Strings
Ground wound and nylon taped strings are a good choice for electric guitar players that play the electric Bass Guitar. The ground wound strings are very similar to round wound but have an additional machining process that helps to smooth and polish the string surface. Nylon wrapped strings are basically wrapped in Teflon, which can make the guitar you are playing have an acoustic bass feel.

How can I get my guitar strings out of my electric?
I'm trying to get the three thinnest strings out of my electric guitar, and I keep trying to push them out the back, but whenever I do they just bend. I had no problems getting the three thickest guitar strings out, but I've tried everything with these three.
First loosen the tension on the strings, so they're really loose, then cut them with some wire cutters and pull the small pieces of strings left in the tuners out with some needle-nose pliers.
